Hi folks, excuse my english…i’m french!
Entering Thomas’s house is breathtaking. Seated on one of his sculptured chair, you start looking around and be amazed by the original and creative inspirations of the artist. Thomas settled down in Madirokely at Nosy Be after travelling in New Caledonia, Quebec, South America, Africa…He spent his childhood in a camping car as his father had to move constantly for his work. So nomadic live was his way of living. Africa had a strong impact on him and profoundly continues to influence its work.
The sculptor finds his inspiration in the surrounding nature which he observes mindfulness. Each of its works is unique, the artist is prolific and creates every pieces to release his creative energy.
Between his hands, pieces of wood, metals, copper, empty hulls have a second life. The old malagasy pirogues liven up.
But make no mistake when you see this nonchalant and nonconformist silhouette: his clever way of looking at life may surprise you…
